Exploring Dominica Restaurants

Dominica Restaurants 1

Local Caribbean dishes and good home cooking
are always available at Dominica Restaurants.

Okay, so you've decided to visit Dominica . . . You've already figured out how to get here, where to stay, and what you want to do.

But...Where are you going to eat?

Dominica restaurants are as diverse and unique as the island itself. They offer a vast array of mouth-watering culinary delights that will satisfy even the most discriminating pallet.

These restaurants offer a wide range of international selections, including succulant Creole cuisine, blending and reflecting our island's Carib Indian, African, French and Oriental influence.

When it comes to food In Dominica . . .

Natural is not an option - it's the only way to go!

Since breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day, we'll start by looking at some of the breakfast selections you can expect from Dominica restaurants.

Along with the usual breakfast items, Dominica restaurants offer a wide range of local fruit juices such as grapefruit, watermelon, pineapple, mango, mandarin, coconut, banana, sugar cane, sorrel, paw paw, tamarind, guava, carambola, soursop, gooseberry, barbadine and passion fruit.

And let's not forget the freshly baked breads and pastries, homemade jams, herbal teas, and freshly ground coffee.

Now that's what I call starting off the day on the right foot!

In Dominica restaurants, every meal is an epicurean adventure.

Lunch is one such adventure you can't afford to miss.

Whether you are dining in the heart of town, on the beach, or at a romantic mountain resort, you can expect lunchtime to be a sumptuous affair.

Your menu choices may include beef, goat, fish, and chicken, as well as a variety of savory soups and salads. Vegetarian entrees are also widely available across the island.

You may also want to try some tasty local favorites such as "San Coche" (saltfish boiled in coconut milk) served with dumplings and green bananas and "Callaloo" soup, which tastes like spinach and is sometimes flavored with crab meat. (Callaloo is made from the leaves of the dasheen plant.)

All vegetables and greens are extremely fresh and Organic Vegetables are readily available.

Popular main course complements are yams, dasheen and tannia (root tubers that are tasty and filling).

End your meal with a slice of homemade coconut-cream pie, or a generous slice of apricot pie with a scoop of soursop, mango, pawpaw, or coconut ice cream.

Mmmm . . . Yummy!

Dominica Restaurants 2 After a long day, it's time to relax, unwind and enjoy the crowning meal of the day . . . call it the icing on the cake.

That's right, it's dinner-time. (You can call me anything but late for dinner!)

Dinner in Dominica is an experience you will to savor for the rest of your life.

I'm not just talking about the mouth-watering Creole cuisine, and luscious dishes such as . . .

  • Savory chicken stuffed with plantain and sweet corn
  • Fish Creole
  • Lobster flambe and Mahi-Mahi

. . . I'm also talking about the ambiance, all the "little" things that help to make this one of the most special meals of the day. Things like . . .

A glorious sunset over the Caribbean Sea, or . . .

Dining by candlelight under a starry sky, with nature's exotic symphony playing softly through the night.

So what are you waiting for?

Come and treat yourself to a dinning experience that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
