Dominica Vacations: Adventure or Relaxation?
"Adventure" - "A wild and exciting undertaking"
"Relaxation" - "Relief from nervous tension"
Do you crave adventure? Do you crave relaxation?
Why not do both?
When was the last time, you actually did the things you really like to do?
You know . . . hiking, scuba-diving, snorkeling, bird-watching, whale-watching, sport-fishing, mountain biking, ATV riding, horse-back riding, kayaking . . .
Has it been too long? Well, it's time you did those things. They are what Dominica vacations are made of.
You deserve some time away, from the hassles and stress of your everyday life. You deserve an ultimate Dominica Vacations adventure.
You'll get the rest you need, and the adventure that you secretly crave.
A Dominica vacations adventure offers you the best of both worlds. This is rare. Very few other vacation destinations offer both in such large supply.
In Dominica, adventure lies around every corner; peace and tranquillity are part of everyday life.
Whether you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of a tropical rainforest, exploring the beauty of our underwater realm, or simply sitting on your verandah, book-in-hand, soaking in the beauty (and fragrance) following a little rain, you will love being in Dominica.
You will thank yourself a million times over for treating yourself to a Dominica vacations adventure.
So that being said, let's look at some of the specific activities you can enjoy on your Dominica Vacations adventure.
Try a hike to "The Boiling Lake" (the second largest of it's kind anywhere in the world):
Located in More Trois Pitons National Park, this hike is not for the faint of heart. However, if your curiosity and a "I'm-not-leaving-without-seeing-the-lake" attidue get's the best of you, then you can expect to be rewarded with one of the most memorable experiences in your life.
The hike itself starts off relatively easy, however once you cross "Breakfast River" it becomes
quite steep and the path is narrow. The view from 2,700 foot Morne Nichols is breath-taking. Take a minute to enjoy it (and catch your breath) before descending into the "Valley of Desolation".

The "Valley" experience by itself, is well worth the hike. The sights, sounds, and smell of this marvel of nature alone will make your adventure vacation one you'll remember for years to come.
Once you've passed through the Valley of Desolation and the natural hot springs, the lake itself is only a few minutes away.
Overall, this is one of the most exhilarating hikes, on the island. The memories alone will be worth every penny of your adventure vacation.
Average hike time: 6 hours round trip. It's an all day "affair with nature." Highly Recommended.
Once you've done the "Boiling Lake" hike, and if you feel like raising the stakes a little bit, try hiking to Dominica's highest peak at 4,747 feet, Morne Diablotin, or "Devils Mountain".
This is the mother of all hikes on the island. The path itself is quite steep, and due to its elevation can be quite damp and foggy at times.
However, the views and natural scenery that comes with this hike make it a great addition to your "ultimate" adventure vacation portfolio.
Average hike time: 8 hours round trip.
Both the above hikes require the services of an experienced Dominica guide. They will help you get a lot more out of your experience.
An adventure vacation in Dominica can also take you beneath the waves into an amazing underwater realm.
Scuba diving tours, allow you to experience Dominica's coral reefs and their numerous inhabitants. You're likely to encounter everything from sea horses, to snake-eels in this underwater world, not to
mention the countless schools of colorful tropical fish that call this region home.
